Lakeside Senior Session in Northern Virginia

It’s that time of year again! Congratulations class of 2023!

It’s FINALLY May, which means it’s green and lush in Northern Virginia. Also, Graduation is right around the corner! Hooray!

Senior sessions are a super fun way to kick off graduation. I love working with soon-to-be graduates to plan a perfect senior session.

Personality is KEY to a perfect senior session!

Candid sessions are fun, but a key element to a perfect senior session is the senior’s personality! What are their hobbies or strengths? These are perfect to incorporate into the session and really showcase what makes them unique. Also, including passions helps to break the ice and ease tensions, which helps the session flow so much smoother.

This grad practices archery in her free time, so we made sure to capture that in her session. Razor-sharp focus!

I always make sure to include a few shots (at least) of seniors practice what they love. I played guitar religiously around the time I got my own senior session done, and having that included in my session helped the whole experience feel way more comfortable and natural.

Senior Sessions are a great time to dress up and look fabulous. Glamour shots aren’t always part of my senior sessions (that depends on the senior, and how comfortable they are posing, and a few other things), but I always make sure to get some shots of them looking their best as well. I love looking back at my senior session and just seeing how much i’ve grown/changed over the years.
